This report, the eighteenth in a series of quarterly progress reports issued by the Research Laboratory of Electronics, contains a review of the research activities of the Laboratory during the three-month period ending June 1, 1950. Inasmuch as this is a preliminary report, no results should be considered to be final.
In the past six months two projects have been added to the work of the Laboratory, and preliminary results of their work are reported herein. The first of these is a study of the Airport Traffic Control and Navigation Problem under the direction of Prof. L. J. Chu. This work receives support from the Air Navigation Development Board of the Civil Aeronautics Authority. In addition, the group working under Prof. Alex Bavelas on the psychology of Group Communication has joined with the Communication Group of this Laboratory. The work of Prof. Bavelas and his colleagues is aided by support from the Rand Corporation.
