Discussion Papers

Based on assigned readings, you will write 4 short (2-3 pages) response papers. Papers should engage with the questions and issues raised by course materials. Papers are analytical and structured. Late papers are docked a grade.

Final Project

A. Final paper: 8-10 pages due last week of class. Paper may build on a topic covered in class allowing you to reflect on the course themes. A list of topics will be given in class.

OR

B. Documentary photography project: Photographs, writing and oral presentation.

Topic is to be chosen with instructor's approval. Project includes a minimum of 10 photos each accompanied by descriptive captions plus an introduction (minimum 3 pages) explaining the choice of topic, fieldwork descriptions, and equipment used. You will present your project to the class during the last week of the semester.
